Jax Update
Although it only has been 2 weeks since I last posted, it has felt like a year with everything going on.
Jax Update: Still is not 100% but is better then before. The new formula is helping, but I still can't get over how much it cost and the fact that since it is pre-digested it makes him eat more often! He has been eating 4 ounces give or take every 2 hours. At times it has felt like I was breasfeeding all over again. Our pediatrician has become my new best friend, we have seen her more times then I would like, but she has been very helpful through all of this. Jax had maxed out on his dosage of baby Zantac so he was switched to Prevacid. Of course the Prevacid is in pill form so we have to disolve it in water first before we give it to him (nothing is easy at this point!). He had a couple of good days after switching to the new medicine, and by good days I mean happy baby pretty much all day and no painful crying. But, as soon as we get the good days and start thinking he is all better, it goes down hill. So now we are at the point of not knowing how he is going to be. He will be happy one minute then have a terrible crying fit (usually lasting 20 minutes) where you can tell he is in terrible pain. It is heartbreaking :(
Just today we went to see a GI specialist because our pediatrician could not do anything else for us. Our GI doctor has set out a plan that will hopefully make our baby all better! He did say that it sounded like Jax has Colic which sucks because they don't know what is causing it and there is really no set way of getting rid of it. We are now mixing in oatmeal cereal with his formula to help with the reflux and he will have an upper GI done in the next few weeks to make sure everything is working correctly on the inside.
On a good note, when Jax is happy it melts our hearts! He is all smiles and is on the verge of laughing. He still does not like his binky although we still attempt to give it to him :) He has discovered his fists and loves to put them in his mouth. He can not get enough of Brody. He watches him wherever he goes and just lights up when he sees him.
On another good note....we are going to be building a house!!! Closing date is set for 8/12/2011
