A long few weeks

I know most of my recent posts have started out by apologizing for not posting so often, so I am not going to start off with that quote! It has though been a whirlwind the past 2 weeks. Our baby Jax has not been tolerating his food very well. I when I say not tolerating I am talking about screaming in pain at the top of his little lungs for hours on end at random points in the day and lots of spit up. At first we didn't think too much of it, maybe just a little fussy. Especially comparing him to Brody as a baby who never really cried or ever spit up we thought it could be normal. But as the days went on, his crying got more frequent and for longer periods. So after going to the Dr. we switched his formula to soy which didn't help. We then took him to Childrens to get an ultrasound to see if it was pyloric stenosis which it wasn't so no surgery (thank goodness!). Then we tried just giving him Soy and I stopped breasfeeding plus he was put on baby Zantac. It then got even worse. He screamed from 1pm- 10pm everytime he was awake. It was the saddest thing we had ever seen. He was so exhausted from crying so much. After a few more calls to the Dr. he drank pedialite for a 12 hour period to flush all the milk protein out of his system and now he is drinking a formula that is pre-digested and does not have a milk protein in it (hypo-allergenic). Yesterday he actually got the chance to be a happy baby all day (smiling, cooing, not crying) but then cried for 2 hours straight after a feeding in the evening. We are still keeping our fingers crossed that this new formula works.

Brody has been our "rock" through this whole thing! The crying doesn't seem to bother him at all! He just goes on with his day and any time Jax is happy comes over and gives him lots of hugs and kisses. He is such a great big brother. And wouldn't you know it, through all of this we were able to potty train him! (Making him sit on the potty every hour for 1o minutes). After about 3-4 days of this he has been asking to use the potty and has had 0 pee accidents. We are still working on pooping, but we will take what we can get. We are soooo proud of him!! As my pediatrician said "God only gives you what you can handle" and I truely believe that :)

If all goes well tonight, I will try and get some pics up!
